AFM Release Thousands of Paper Poppies To Honour Maltese Killed During Wars

The Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) honoured Remembrance Day and all those who lost their lives during war by releasing thousands of paper poppies from a WWII aircraft.
The event occurred over the War Memorial in Floriana, where a wreath-laying ceremony was being held. Earlier, the AFM held a Guard of Honour for President Myriam Spiteri Debono.
The Remembrance Day celebrations began in Valletta with a Guard of Honour for President Myriam Spiteri Debono at St John's Square, followed by Holy Mass at St John's Co-Cathedral.
The AFM were joined by the Malta Police Force and Civil Protection Department, alongside ex-servicemen, associations and the Armed Forces band.
The ceremony also featured the sounding of the Last Post, a gun salute and the playing of Reveille, honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
On social media, the AFM marked the occasion with the message: “Lest We Forget. We remember their courage, and their sacrifice, and remain forever grateful for the freedom they fought to protect.”
