According to Facebook weather page ‘It-Temp Madwarna’, between Saturday 18 October and Sunday 19 October, Malta is expected to experience a storm of African origin.

The strong and fresh winds experienced on Friday 17 October are expected to die down completely overnight.

During Saturday, the weather will gradually become cloudier, with a significant increase in high cloud cover. Air pressure will fall, and light south-easterly winds will blow at Force 3.

Later on Saturday evening, the wind will shift to east-north-east and strengthen to Force 5. Rain and thunder clouds are expected to approach the Maltese Islands from the west, signalling the arrival of the main storm system.

By Sunday morning, 19 October, the main storm is expected to have passed. Winds will continue from the north-east at Force 5 to 6, and scattered showers may persist throughout the day.

The ongoing rainfall is linked to the low-pressure vortex of the storm system as it moves over the central Mediterranean.
