A Pet Day Is Coming To Malta’s Capital City This April!

A ‘Pet Day’ activity will be held in Valletta to raise awareness about animal welfare while offering a fun and educational experience for families and their pets.
The event was announced by Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights Alicia Bugeja Said and will take place at Hastings Garden.
Scheduled for Saturday 11 April between 10:00 and 16:00, the event will bring together families and their pets in a welcoming environment.

Visitors can expect information stalls on animal care, fundraising initiatives in aid of abandoned animals, and a range of activities designed for children.
Bugeja Said explained that the initiative forms part of a broader effort to integrate animals more fully into everyday life in Maltese society.
She noted that with over 60% of Maltese and Gozitan households owning at least one pet, continued focus on welfare and inclusion remains essential.
The Government is also supporting practical measures in this sector through schemes introduced alongside Project Green, including funding for dog parks and cat cafés.
Valletta Mayor Olaf McKay encouraged the public to attend and enjoy a community-focused day centred on responsible animal care.
