‘A Love Affair’: New Charles & Ron Collection Marking 35 Year Since The Designers Met

Maltese fashion house Charles & Ron is marking 35 years since designers Charles and Ron first met in Amsterdam with a Spring/Summer 2027 collection inspired by the house’s history and Maltese identity.

Entitled A Love Affair, the collection revisits the colours, symbols, prints and techniques that have shaped the designers’ visual language over the past three and a half decades, while reworking familiar elements for a contemporary look.

The collection features a joyful pastel palette, combining signature lilac with butter yellow, soft orange, lime green, mint and light blue. Ombre effects are also used to create fluid transitions between shades.

Maltese culture takes centre stage through prints featuring the iconic luzzu eye and the crown of St Helena, while the traditional “bandalori,” decorative banners associated with village festas, provide inspiration for colourful designs depicting Valletta, Birgu and Marsaxlokk.

Stripes and motifs from previous Charles & Ron collections also make a return, alongside the house’s coat of arms.

Describing the collection as a look back in order to move forward, the designers say it is both “a celebration of where C&R have been” and a statement of where they are going.
