90.5% Of Maltese Believe In God, But Just 57% Say Religion Is Very Important For Them

According to the State of the Nation, 90.5% of respondents said that they believe in God, whereas 5.6% said they don’t and 3.9% said they don’t know.

More women believe in God (94.4%) compared to 86.4% of men. The younger the respondent the more likely they did not believe in God, with 7.3% of 16 to 25 year olds said they don’t.

84.3% of 26 to 35 year olds said they believe in God, whereas 11.8% said they don’t. When considering level of education, 86.2% said they believe in God.

Meanwhile, only 57.0% of respondents said that religion is important to them. 32.5% said religion is sort of important, whereas 8.7% said it’s not important at all.

Religion was more important for women at 64% compared to 49.9% of men. 41.2% of respondents said that they heavily consider religion when making a decision, with 17.6% said they don’t consider it at all.
