89% Of Maltese Kids Use Internet Every Day, Says Survey

According to a new report titled ‘Children & The Impact of Technology On Their Wellbeing’, it was found that 89% of children use the internet every day.
The survey, which collected valid responses from over 1,900 children aged 7 to 15 living in Malta, found that 8.8% used the internet a few times per week, whereas 0.8% used it a few times per month.
Use increased with age, rising from 76.5% daily use among 7 to 10 year olds to 97.1% among 13 to 15 year olds.
Maltese children were more likely to use the internet daily at 90% compared to foreign nationals at 81%.
Smartphones were the most common access device at 81.3%, followed by computers/laptops (56.4%), tablets (41.6%) and gaming consoles (35.4%).
Older children, aged 13 to 15, preferred smartphones at 96.1%, whereas younger children favoured tablets at 59.2%.
Girls were more likely to use tablets at 48.2% and boys were more likely to use gaming consoles at 57.6%.
