88% OF Maltese Women are Comfortable Having An LGBTIQ+ Neighbour Compared To 81% Of Men

The National Statistics Office revealed that 88% of women are comfortable living next to a person who is part of the LGBTQIA+ community, when compared to 81% who were asked the same question.

Respondents were investigated for their social tolerance by seeing which social groups Maltese people are comfortable being neighbours with.

In addition to the LGBTQIA+ community, participants were asked how comfortable they are being neighbours with a disabled person. It resulted that 93% of women and 90% of men are comfortable with this.

73% of both men and women agreed that they are comfortable living next door to someone who has different religious beliefs to them, however only 65-66% are comfortable being neighbours with a person of a different ethnicity, skin colour or language to them.

Both men and women are most uncomfortable living next to somebody with a history of either crime or incarceration, with only 30% of men and 21% expressing comfortability.
