The Partit Nazzjonalista (PN) has reported a strong turnout in the election for its new Leader, with 86% of eligible members casting their vote.

According to figures released by the PN’s Electoral, Records and Data Commission, out of a total of 20,795 eligible voters, 17,862 members cast their ballot. This represents a participation rate of 85.9%, one of the highest recorded in the party’s internal elections.

Voting took place across three days: early voting on Wednesday 27 August and Saturday 30 August, and election day today, when members were able to vote between 9am and 7pm at the Dar Ċentrali in Pietà, as well as at PN Clubs in Ħal Safi, Ħal Tarxien and l-Imġarr. Voting in Gozo was held at the PN Sub Headquarters in Ta’ Sannat, where polls closed at 5pm.

The leadership election is being contested by Alex Borg and Adrian Delia. Following the close of polls, the PN General Convention continues this evening, with the counting of votes, the announcement of the result, and the first speech by the newly elected Leader.

The outcome of this leadership race is set to shape the future direction of the Partit Nazzjonalista at a critical juncture in Maltese politics.
