82% Of Electoral Manifesto Complete As 4 Years Of PL Government Approaches, Says PM

Prime Minister and Labour Party Leader Robert Abela has announced that a number of new projects will be launched in the coming period as part of the Government’s ongoing efforts ‘to invest in families and improve people’s quality of life.’
He noted that 82% of the electoral manifesto proposals have already been implemented as the fourth year of the current legislature approaches.
Speaking in an interview with Massimo Axisa, Abela outlined planned strategic investments in healthcare, including a new Emergency Department at Mater Dei Hospital, a new mental health hospital nearby, and a 300-bed intermediate care facility at San Vinċenz de Paul Residence.
He said these initiatives are intended to enhance patient care while easing pressure on existing hospital infrastructure, with a continued focus on placing patients at the centre of services.

He also highlighted environmental initiatives, including the electrification of the entire bus fleet in Gozo and several regeneration projects across Manoel Island, Fort Tigné, White Rocks, Fort Campbell and Fort San Salvatore.
On housing, Abela reiterated plans to improve access to affordable homes through four new projects, with properties to be sold at prices significantly below market value. Additional measures are expected to follow to support more families in becoming homeowners.
He further addressed global challenges such as the pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine conflict and wider geopolitical tensions, stressing the Government’s commitment to maintaining energy subsidies and economic stability for families and businesses.
He emphasised Malta’s neutrality, the importance of diplomacy and the country’s attractiveness to investors and tourists seeking stability and security.
