70,000 Fill Valletta for the Biggest New Year’s Eve Celebration Yet

Valletta rang in 2026 with joy, music, and togetherness as an estimated 70,000 people gathered across the capital to celebrate New Year’s Eve in spectacular fashion. From St George’s Square to Triton Square, along Valletta’s main streets and the breathtaking Grand Harbour, the city came alive with energy, colour, and celebration.

The heart of the festivities beat in St George’s Square, where a vibrant live show featured some of Malta’s most loved local artists, creating a feel-good atmosphere that brought generations together. The night built up to an electrifying performance by international artist John Newman, closing the show on a powerful high. The celebrations were hosted by Ron, Jamie Cardona, and Taryn Mamo Cefai, who also unveiled a special song created exclusively for the evening.
As the clock struck midnight, a 25-minute fireworks display lit up the Grand Harbour, the largest New Year’s Eve pyrotechnic show ever held in Valletta. Thousands gathered at vantage points around the harbour, watching the sky burst into colour against one of Malta’s most iconic backdrops.
This milestone celebration marked the largest New Year’s Eve event in Valletta to date, bringing a successful close to a year of cultural events organised by the Valletta Cultural Agency.

The Valletta National New Year’s Eve Celebration was organised by G7 Events through a Cultural Partnership Agreement with the Valletta Cultural Agency within the Ministry for Culture, Lands and Local Government, and supported by the Malta Tourism Authority.
