7.8% Of Maltese At Work Were At Risk Of Poverty IN 2024

According to new data by Eurostat, 7.8% of Maltese aged 18 or over who declared to be at work were at risk of poverty.
Comprising both employed and self-employed, more men, at 8.7%, were at risk of poverty despite being employed. 6.5% of Maltese women were at risk.
The EU average was 8.2%, with 7.3% of women and 9.0% of men being at risk. The highest rate in EU countries was recorded in Luxembourg, where 13.4% of employed over-18 year olds were at risk of poverty.
Bulgaria and Spain registered the 2nd and 3rd highest amounts at 11.8% and 11.2% respectively.
The lowest was registered in Finland at 2.8%, followed by Czechia and Belgium at 3.6% and 4.3% respectively.
