64-YEAR-OLD BRITISH MAN DIES WHILE DIVING IN WIED IŻ-ŻURRIEQ

A 64-year-old British man has tragically lost his life after encountering difficulties while diving in Wied iż-Żurrieq on Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 3:30pm, when emergency services were alerted to a diver in distress. Police officers and members of the Civil Protection Department were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they assisted in bringing the diver back to shore.

Upon being brought onto land, a medical team administered first aid before the man was transported by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital for further treatment.

Despite efforts to save him, the man was unfortunately certified dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Magistrate Dr Philip Galea Farrugia has been informed of the case and has appointed an inquiry to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police investigations are currently ongoing.
