The Government has announced a major investment in Malta’s rock music scene, with 63 rock music events set to be supported in 2026 through the Rock’n Malta funding scheme.

In a statement issued by the Ministry for Culture, the Arts and Local Government, Minister Owen Bonnici revealed that the scheme will benefit around 1,800 local artists, backed by a €1 million investment. The fund, administered by Festivals Malta, supports organisers, promoters, bands and artists in developing concerts and events, helping to raise the standard and visibility of rock music in Malta.

Minister Bonnici said the investment reflects the Government’s strong belief in local talent, creating creative opportunities and strengthening the country’s cultural life. Festivals Malta Chairman Aaron Zahra highlighted the growing demand for the scheme, while CEO Frans Agius noted that the fund also provides guidance and ongoing support to event organisers.

The Rock’n Malta-supported events will take place between January and December 2026.
