60 Year Old Woman Dies After Swimming Incident In Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq

A 60-year-old woman from Swieqi passed away following a swimming incident yesterday evening in the area of Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq.

The incident occurred at around 8:00pm in Triq il-Blat l-Abjad, when police were informed that assistance was required after the woman encountered difficulties while swimming.

According to initial findings, members of the public nearby acted quickly and managed to bring the woman out of the water before emergency services arrived.

She was subsequently given medical assistance at the scene by a medical team and transported by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital.

Despite efforts to save her life, she was certified dead shortly after arrival at hospital.

Naxxar police were deployed immediately and carried out initial investigations at the scene.

The case has been reported to the duty magistrate, Dr Joe Mifsud, who has opened a magisterial inquiry.

Police investigations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
