6 New Emergency Response Vehicles Added To Mater Dei Fleet

Minister for Health and Active Ageing Jo Etienne Abela has announced the introduction of six new rapid response vehicles, a move that will more than double the current capacity of pre-hospital care services.
Over the past year, the 112 Ambulance Service responded to more than 56,500 emergency situations, the Minister explained.

This figure represents the highest number ever recorded and marks a 12% increase when compared with 2024.
Minister Jo Etienne Abela explained that the six new vehicles will be added to the existing fleet, bringing the total number to 11.
These vehicles are designed to allow medical teams to reach patients more quickly, particularly in critical situations such as cardiac arrest and severe trauma.
He emphasised that early and advanced intervention plays a vital role in improving patient outcomes and ensuring patients arrive at the Emergency Department in the best possible condition.
In addition to expanding the fleet, the Minister announced that the number of consultants specialising in pre-hospital care has been doubled.
