According to the State of the Nation survey, 22.7% of Maltese said that they are completely uncomfortable with ‘multiculturalism’, as opposed to 10.8% are very comfortable.

Most people, at 33.3%, fall right in the mid-point of ‘multiculturalism’. Respondents were also asked if they were comfortable with foreigners doing jobs that Maltese people did not want to do.

53.2% said they were comfortable with it, as opposed to 37.8%, with 8.9% saying they’re unsure.

Younger generations were the least likely to support the notion, with 42.9% of 16 to 25 year olds and 42.1% of 26 to 35 year olds saying yes, as opposed to 44.9% and 49.2% saying no.

Older generations were more likely to say yes, with 62.4% of over 66 year olds saying yes, followed by 62.2% of 56 to 65 year olds.
