A new chapter has begun for 52 recruits who have officially began the process of to becoming Constables within the Malta Police Force.

Last week marked the start of an intensive one-year training programme that reflects a modernised approach to policing, one grounded in professionalism, adaptability, and lifelong learning.

During a welcome visit, Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà addressed the recruits, highlighting the significance of this intake.

“This is more than just a job, it’s a commitment that requires flexibility, dedication, and integrity,” he said, “Policing has evolved from a vocation into a true profession, and this new training approach reflects that evolution.”

The revamped course, delivered in collaboration with the University of Malta, combines academic study with hands-on training.

A key feature is a three-month job placement designed to expose recruits to the realities of frontline police work while reinforcing classroom learning with real-world experience.

This milestone marks a shift in how Malta prepares its future law enforcement officers, with a stronger focus on continuous professional development, ethical conduct, and community engagement.

Good luck to all 52 recruits as they begin this transformative journey in service of public safety and justice.
