On the 4th of August 2022, 2 year old Harvey was diagnosed with T-Cell acute lymphoblastic leuakemia with central nervous system involvement. At such a young age, he began the toughest one could possibly face.

Thankfully, doctors caught the cancer just in time. Three years have since passed, and 5-year-old Harvey is still undergoing daily chemotherapy, with his final treatment scheduled for the 14th of November.

Speaking to MaltaDaily, his mother, Sam, shared how Harvey immediately began treatment and “has been strong and resilient throughout.”

Sam explained that she created the Instagram account @the.cancer.mum as both a way to share her story and to connect with other parents facing similar struggles.

“My journey as a mother has been very testing. I live with a chronic illness myself, which made caring for Harvey even more challenging,” she revealed.

Following her divorce, Sam also became a single mother, carrying the weight of Harvey’s care alone. Yet instead of giving into hardship, she has chosen to transform her struggles into strength.

“I want to raise awareness and inspire other mothers who are facing sickness within their families. I want to encourage them to stand up for themselves…no matter how difficult the circumstances,” Sam said.

“He loves the sea,” she said, “although we haven’t been able to go to the beach for the last three years due to viruses and bacteria in the sand.”

Harvey loves dinosaurs, transformers, monster trucks, and painting. Sam described him as nothing short of perfect; “bubbly and very intelligent. Affectionate and caring.”

To follow Harvey’s journey, follow @the.cancer.mum on Instagram and TikTok. As Harvey’s final treatment draws closer, hope grows for a brighter and healthier future.
