5 Trapped In Burning Building After Fire Breaks Out In Marsaskala

Five people and a dog were safely rescued after a fire broke out inside a building in Marsaskala on Sunday evening.

The Civil Protection Department said firefighters from Fire Station 4 responded to the incident, where they were met with heavy smoke filling the structure.

As a precaution, crews used a turntable ladder to evacuate the five occupants and their dog, who had become trapped inside the building.

Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control before carrying out ventilation procedures to clear the remaining smoke and ensure the premises were safe.

Two people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by an Emergency Department medical team from Mater Dei Hospital. Both were discharged after receiving treatment.

The Civil Protection Department thanked officers from the Malta Police Force's District 4 and personnel from Enemalta plc for assisting during the operation.

The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed.
