5 Things You Can Do For Others This World Mental Health Day

Today, 10th October, marks World Mental Health Day, a reminder that looking after our mental health is important, but so is looking out for the people around us.

Sometimes, the smallest gestures can make the biggest difference in someone's day.

Here are five simple things you can do for others today.

1. Send A Message To Someone You Haven't Spoken To In A While

We all have that friend we've been meaning to catch up with. Send them a simple message, ask how they're doing or remind them you're thinking of them. You never know how much they might need it.

2. Check In On Your Elderly Relatives

Visit your grandparents, call an older family member or spend some time with someone who might be feeling lonely. Even a short conversation can brighten their day and remind them they're not forgotten.

3. Make Peace With Someone You've Fallen Out With

Life's too short to hold on to unnecessary arguments. If it's healthy and appropriate, consider reaching out to someone you've had a disagreement with. Sometimes, a simple apology or honest conversation can go a long way.

4. Call Your Parents

When was the last time you called your parents just to ask how they're doing? Not because you needed something, but simply to catch up. A few minutes of your time could mean the world to them.

5. Ask Someone How They're Really Doing

Not every struggle is visible. Check in on a friend, colleague or someone who seems a little quieter than usual. Take the time to listen without judging or immediately trying to fix everything.

World Mental Health Day is a reminder that kindness, connection and simply being there for someone can make a real difference.

You don't need to make a grand gesture to have a positive impact on someone's life. Sometimes, all it takes is a message, a phone call or a little bit of your time.
