Residents in five additional localities will now benefit from services provided by the Cleansing and Maintenance Division (CMD), following new agreements with local councils.

Glenn Bedingfield, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Cleanliness, announced that CMD has already started servicing residential streets in Sliema and St Julian’s, while similar services will be extended to Żejtun, Mosta and Dingli at the beginning of next year.

With these new agreements, CMD is now operating daily in residential streets across 34 localities, directly improving the quality of life of around 250,000 residents.

Bedingfield explained that discussions with the respective local councils had been ongoing for several months and expressed satisfaction that more councils are placing their trust in the division.

He noted that this expansion is possible thanks to continued investment in resources and machinery, supported by a strong national economy.

Minister Miriam Dalli highlighted that collaboration with local councils delivers tangible solutions that make a real difference in people’s daily lives, while CMD Director General Ramon Deguara reaffirmed the division’s commitment to a cleaner, more orderly country that reflects respect, responsibility and pride for both residents and visitors alike.
