According to information tabled in parliament by Health Minister Ian Borg, 44 babies were born to female same-sex couples since gamete donation was introduced in 2018.
Gamete donation was introduced in 2018, and since then a total of 88 babies have been born through the use of donated gametes.
51 babies were conceived using donor sperm; 30 babies were conceived using donor oocytes; and 7 babies were conceived using both donor sperm and donor oocytes.
