41-Year-Old Diver Dies While Carrying Out Work Near St Paul’s Islands

A 41-year-old man from Rabat has died after experiencing difficulties while carrying out work underwater in the area of the St Paul’s Islands.

Police were informed of the incident at around noon. The diver was brought to the Buġibba jetty by members of the Armed Forces of Malta, where a medical team was waiting to provide assistance.

Despite efforts to save him, the man was certified dead a short time later.

Duty Magistrate Dr Monica Borg Galea LL.D was informed of the incident and has appointed an inquiry to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and determine the cause of death.

Police investigations are ongoing in collaboration with the Occupational Health and Safety Authority as authorities continue to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.
