4 Maltese Tourists Die After Car Plunges Into Sea In Croatia

A tragic road accident claimed the lives of four people, reportedly Maltese tourists, on Thursday afternoon on the D8 state road near Bunica, just south of Senj in Croatia.
According to the Lika-Senj Police Department, a car with Zagreb licence plates, reportedly rented at Franjo Tuđman Airport in Zagreb, was travelling from Rijeka towards Senj when the driver lost control while negotiating a gentle left-hand bend.
For reasons that remain unclear, the vehicle veered to the right, struck two stone barriers, plunged approximately 70 metres down a ravine, and ended up in the sea.
Unofficial reports suggest that the victims – two men and two women were tourists. Formal identification is expected once the investigation and autopsies have been completed.
HGSS wrote, “Divers HGSS Stanica Gospić participated in the extraction of 4 bodies from the car that landed in the sea near Senj.”
