4 Maltese Projects Receive Recognition With European Innovative Teaching Award 2025

Four Maltese initiatives have been selected for the prestigious European Innovative Teaching Award (EITA) 2025, an initiative of the European Commission that celebrates outstanding projects funded under the Erasmus+ programme across Europe. The Maltese EU Programmes Agency (EUPA) announced that Malta is represented by four projects covering different areas of education.
The 2025 edition of the award focused on the theme “Citizenship Education – Participation in Democratic Life, Common Values and Civic Engagement”. This highlights the importance of active participation, critical thinking, and the promotion of European values among students and participants of all ages.

The recognised projects from Malta include: “Let’s Change the Pace”, led by The European Network of Parents of LGBTI+ Persons in the field of Adult Education; “Staff Training Experience 2024” by PA Holdings Ltd, focused on Early Childhood Education and Care; “Blooming Schools” from BirdLife Malta in School Education; and “Beyond Capital” from the Maltese Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vocational Education and Training.
These projects demonstrate a strong commitment to innovative teaching methods, inclusive learning environments, and the development of civic and entrepreneurial skills. They also contribute to a more participatory society by encouraging engagement and active citizenship.

The Minister for European Funds and Implementation of the Electoral Programme, Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, said that the recognition reflects the quality and vision of Malta’s education sector. He added that investment in Erasmus+ is producing tangible benefits for Maltese society and creating opportunities for innovation, inclusion, and high-quality learning.
Raphael Scerri, EUPA Chief Executive, noted that the award highlights the dedication and professionalism of Maltese organisations and recognises projects that have a real and lasting impact on their communities. The Ministry congratulated all participants and encouraged other institutions to take full advantage of European programmes to further strengthen education, innovation, and shared European values.
