Marsa was engulfed in chaos yesterday as a major industrial fire tore through the area, with authorities referring to the incident as a “Black Friday.” Civil Protection Malta crews fought tirelessly throughout the night, confronting the flames under challenging, smoke-filled darkness.

Firefighters worked through the night, battling intense heat and thick smoke in near-total darkness. Using cranes and aerial platforms, crews tackled the fire from above, preventing the flames from spreading further across the industrial zone.

The fire officially extinguished after 24 Hours.

Today, Civil Protection Malta confirmed that the fire has been fully extinguished, bringing an end to a relentless 24-hour battle. In its update this morning, the CPD outlined the extraordinary scale of the operation, noting that firefighters utilised 4,700,000 litres of water and 30,000 litres of firefighting foam, supported by a force of 153 firefighters, 16 Senior Fire Officers, and 30 fire appliances.

At the height of the incident, crews endured four hours of uninterrupted, direct firefighting to finally bring the blaze under control.

Although the fire is out, authorities continue to urge anyone experiencing symptoms related to smoke exposure to contact the Primary Care Telemedicine Service on 2123 1231.
