36 New Architects Awarded Their Warrant, Bringing the Total To 115 Since 2024

Thirty-six newly qualified architects have been officially granted their professional warrant, marking a significant milestone both in their careers and for the architectural profession in Malta.
Addressing the new cohort during the conferral ceremony, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works, Omar Farrugia, described architecture as “not just a profession, but a vocation – a calling to envision a Malta of tomorrow that is better and more beautiful than the Malta we know today”. He emphasised that the new warrant holders are set to become key contributors to the country’s future, shaping its built environment for generations to come.
Parliamentary Secretary Farrugia highlighted that each architect will play an essential role in the country’s long-term development, particularly through Vision Malta 2050. This national strategy aims to guide sustainable growth based on pillars such as the intelligent use of land and sea, and resilient economic development.
Chairperson of the Architects Warranting Board, Dr Frank Psaila, noted that the Board’s role is to rigorously assess and evaluate candidates to ensure that only those meeting the required professional standards are certified. He remarked that the 36 newly warranted professionals will now continue contributing to an improved quality of life across the country.

President of the Kamra tal-Periti, Perit Andre Pizzuto, added that the profession has been further strengthened by the addition of more qualified practitioners who bear the responsibility of making decisions that uphold public health and safety.
It was also noted during the ceremony that, from 2024 to date, the Architects Warranting Board has issued a total of 115 warrants to new architects.
The architects’ warrant was first introduced through the Architects Ordinance of 1919. The following year saw the establishment of the Kamra tal-Periti (Chamber of Architects), with the first warrants issued under the same legislation.
