36,000+ Cubic Meters Of Waste Cleared From Mġarr Valley, Gozo

More than 36,000 cubic metres of waste and landfill have been removed from Gozo’s Mġarr Valley as part of a major rehabilitation project aimed at reducing flooding risks and restoring the natural environment.
Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri announced that the works have now been completed, involving the removal of invasive vegetation across an area measuring 9,000 square metres.
The intervention focused on clearing materials obstructing the natural flow of rainwater, allowing it to move more efficiently during periods of heavy rainfall.
The Mġarr Valley project forms part of a broader rehabilitation programme covering several valleys across Gozo, including Wied il-Kbir, Wied tal-Marga, Wied ta’ Marsalforn, Wied ta’ Xħama, Wied ta’ Mġarr ix-Xini and Wied l-Infern. Camilleri said that each project reflects a wider commitment to protecting the habitats and agricultural land of Gozo’s valleys.
