30-Year-Old Man Hospitalised After Traffic Accident in Ħal Tarxien

A 30-year-old man residing in Birżebbuġa was taken to Mater Dei Hospital in the early hours of this morning after being involved in a traffic accident in Triq Tal-Barrani, Ħal Tarxien.

The accident happened at around 12:30am, when preliminary investigations found that the man was driving a Toyota Auris when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree.

As a result of the impact, the vehicle caught fire shortly afterwards. Passers-by who were in the area managed to pull the driver out of the car before the flames spread.

Members of the Civil Protection Department and a medical team were called to the scene, where they provided first aid before the man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance for further treatment.

He was later certified to have sustained serious injuries.

Police investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
