2,837 LSEs Currently Employed Within Government Schools

In a recent parliamentary question, Opposition MP Ivan Bartolo asked Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, Clifton Grima, to provide an update on the number of Learning Support Educators (LSEs) currently employed in government schools.
Minister Grima revealed that a total of 2,837 LSEs are presently working within the state education system.
Of these, 44 are new recruits who joined the workforce at the start of the 2025–2026 scholastic year, strengthening support services for students with diverse learning needs.
