282,542 Fines Issued Across Malta And Gozo Between May 2025 And June 2026

Ever wondered which towns receive the most contraventions in Malta?
New figures reveal where the highest number of fines were issued by LESA and the Malta Police Force between May 2025 and June 2026, with some of the island's busiest localities topping the list.
According to the data, San Pawl il-Baħar recorded the highest number of contraventions with 20,929, followed by Valletta with 15,159 and Birkirkara with 12,866. They were followed by San Ġiljan (11,562), Qormi (11,500), Sliema (11,055), Mosta (10,794), Naxxar (10,530), Santa Venera (10,257) and Mellieħa (10,107).
Other localities with high totals included Ħamrun (9,875), Floriana (9,003), Marsascala (8,065) and Msida (8,034). Several Gozo localities also featured in the list, with Rabat, Gozo recording the highest total on the island at 6,019 contraventions.
At the other end of the table, the fewest contraventions were recorded in Isla (44), followed by Sannat, Gozo (59), Għasri, Gozo (63), San Lawrenz, Gozo (74) and Mtarfa (83).
The figures provide a snapshot of where enforcement activity was highest across Malta and Gozo during the 13-month period, although they do not specify the types of contraventions issued or account for differences in population, traffic volumes or visitor numbers between localities.
