27 Year Old Grievously Injured After Vehicle Flips & Catches Fire

Earlier today at around 5am, police were informed that an accident had taken place on Triq l-Imdina, Ħ’Attard.
Preliminary investigations showed that a Toyota Vitz had flipped onto its top, with the driver, a 27 year old man resident of Ħal Qormi, and a passenger, an 18 year old woman resident of Swieqi, outside of the vehicle.
They were given medical attention and taken to Mater Dei Hospital, where the driver was certified to have suffered grievous injuries whereas the woman suffered light injuries.
Investigations showed that the vehicle hit a pole, flipped and caught fire. The two persons managed to exit the vehicle before the fire caught.
Civil Protection were also on site to assist. Investigations are still ongoing.
