A 26-year-old Colombian woman has been arrested at Malta International Airport after allegedly attempting to bring more than half a kilogram of suspected ketamine into the country, with an estimated street value exceeding €70,000.

The arrest followed a coordinated operation involving the Malta Police Force, the Customs Department, and Spanish and Colombian authorities.

According to the police, intelligence suggested that the woman was travelling from Spain to Malta and was potentially linked to an international drug trafficking network.

After receiving information that she would be arriving on a flight from Madrid last Saturday, officers carried out inspections on passengers travelling on the aircraft.

The woman was identified and stopped, with a search of her luggage revealing two large blocks and a smaller package containing the suspected drugs.
