25-Year-Old Ryan Cachia Becomes Siġġiewi Mayor

Ryan Cachia has officially taken up the role of Siġġiewi mayor after being sworn into office, becoming one of the youngest mayors in Malta following his election as part of the Nationalist Party.
Cachia steps into the position after Julian Borg, who previously served as Siġġiewi mayor before stepping down following his election to the Maltese Parliament in the most recent general election. Borg’s departure triggered the leadership transition within the local council.
At just 25 years of age, Cachia’s appointment has been highlighted as a significant moment for the locality, with the young councillor now leading the council administration alongside his team.
In comments shared publicly, PN leader Alex Borg praised Cachia and his team for their work during the local electoral campaign, noting that their consistent engagement with residents, sustained effort, and close connection with the community helped secure a majority for the Nationalist Party in the Siġġiewi Local Council. Borg also acknowledged the contribution of Julian Borg, describing the team’s work as instrumental in achieving electoral success and ongoing local governance.
Cachia’s appointment marks a new chapter for Siġġiewi’s local council, with expectations that the young mayor will continue ongoing initiatives and focus on delivering services for residents.
The transition is seen as part of a broader generational shift in local politics, with younger representatives increasingly taking on leadership roles within Maltese local councils.
