24 New Officers Welcomed Into Correctional Services Agency

After completing weeks of demanding training, 24 recruits formally began their careers as Correctional Officers within the Correctional Services Agency during a Passing Out Parade.
Addressing the ceremony, the Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment, Byron Camilleri, congratulated the new officers and underlined that discipline and respect must form the foundation of their daily duties.
He reminded them that the role carries significant responsibility. Correctional officers, he said, are accountable not only for their own conduct but also for upholding the standards and integrity of the entire institution.
While maintaining order and security within the facility is crucial, this must go hand in hand with supporting rehabilitation efforts to help residents reintegrate into society and reduce reoffending.
Minister Camilleri also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting officers throughout their careers, pointing to recent improvements in working conditions, salaries and professional development, alongside continued investment in facilities and resources.
The 24 new officers, made up of 19 men and five women, completed comprehensive training in correctional practice, psychology and physical preparedness. Chief Executive Christopher Siegersma described the occasion as the start of their vocation.
