2026 Gozo Regional Carnival Officially Launched

Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri has officially launched this year’s edition of the Gozo Regional Carnival, one of the most anticipated events in the island’s cultural calendar.
The Carnival celebrates the distinctive spirit of the Gozitan community and continues to play an important role in preserving and promoting local traditions.
This year’s programme will open with the Carnival Parade on Saturday 7 February at 7.30pm and will continue with a series of events and activities in Victoria and various villages across Gozo until 17 February 2026.
Commenting on the launch, Minister Camilleri said: “The Gozo Carnival is a clear reflection of the cultural identity and creativity of the Gozitan people.

This event not only strengthens our traditions, but also continues to attract visitors while creating economic and social opportunities for the island.
As a Ministry, we remain committed to supporting all those whose dedication makes this event possible. Their work ensures a safe and well-organised environment for both residents and visitors.”
Over five days, Gozo will transform into a vibrant celebration of art, colour and long-standing traditions.
The regional festivities, mainly centred in Victoria, provide a platform for Carnival enthusiasts to showcase their talents through elaborate floats, imaginative costumes and artistic performances.
The Carnival successfully blends centuries-old heritage with contemporary expression, creating a family-friendly spectacle for all ages.
The spontaneous Nadur Carnival, known for its distinctive character and style, also forms an integral part of the celebrations. Its authentic and unconventional spirit has grown into a major attraction, adding a unique dimension to the wider Gozitan Carnival experience.
The Gozo Carnival continues to draw visitors from Malta and abroad, uniting people in a lively celebration of heritage, creativity and community spirit. For further information and the full programme, visit eventsingozo.com or download the Events in Gozo app.
