Local
Crime reports for 2021, 2022, and 2023 in Malta were presented in a parliamentary question and answer session, with responses provided by the Minister for Home Affairs, Security, Reforms and Equality, Byron Camilleri.
The 2024 report confirmed that Malta remains a safe and stable country, recording a rate of 30 crimes per 1,000 people. This marks a decline compared to 2023 and a significant reduction from 46 cases per 1,000 people in 2004.
Malta also performed well in international assessments, including the World Justice Project Global Rule of Law Index, where the country ranked among the top ten out of 142 in terms of order and security.
