Between January and June 2025, the Public Registry of Malta and Gozo recorded 2,197 births, comprising 1,138 boys and 1,059 girls.

During the same period, there were 2,221 deaths, with 1,139 men and 1,082 women registered.

In Gozo, births and deaths were evenly matched at 183 each, while Malta registered 2,014 births and 2,038 deaths.

A total of 72 marriages were celebrated in Gozo and 991 in Malta.

The Public Registry in Malta issued 38,603 certificates, including 19,499 birth, 6,724 marriage, and 12,380 death certificates.

The Gozo office issued 2,881 certificates, among them 1,099 birth, 343 marriage, and 1,439 death certificates.

The Searches Unit processed 19,306 searches, including 7,681 Testamentary, 54,833 Normal, and 37,421 Updates.

Meanwhile, the Passport Office issued 26,008 new passports in Malta, with April proving the busiest month at 4,795. This was a decline from 29,799 passports issued during the same period in 2024.

Identity Card renewals also drove high demand, with 57,891 cards issued in the first half of the year. May was the busiest month, with 11,321 cards produced, 8,473 of which were renewals.

On the compliance front, Identità carried out 92 inspections in cooperation with entities such as the Malta Police Force, Transport Malta, LESA, and Jobsplus.

These inspections covered construction sites, roads, and 26 entertainment venues. The Compliance Unit also conducted 299 investigations, referring 147 cases to the police.
