20-YEAR-OLD ROMANIAN MAN ARRESTED AFTER SMASHING CAR WINDOW IN SWIEQI

A 20-year-old Romanian man was arrested just hours after allegedly causing wilful damage to a vehicle in Swieqi.

Police received a report yesterday concerning an incident that took place at around 5.30am in Triq is-Swieqi, Swieqi. According to the report, a person who was walking along the road allegedly smashed the window of a parked vehicle.

Police immediately began analysing CCTV footage in an effort to identify the person responsible. Investigations led officers to the property where the suspect had been staying, but by the time police arrived, he had already left.

Investigations continued, and at around 5pm, police arrested the man in Floriana.

The 20-year-old is expected to be arraigned in court today at around 11.45am before Magistrate Dr Gabriella Vella LL.D.
