2 NEW SUPERINTENDENTS & 19 CONSTABLES PROMOTED DURING CEREMONY

During a ceremony that took place at the Malta Police Force’s General Headquarters, two inspectors were promoted to the rank of Superintendent, whilst 19 constables were promoted to sergeant.
The ceremony was led by Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment and Police Commissioner Angelo Gafa.
The Minister remarked how in the past years the police corps managed to reduce the rate of criminality through a politics of prevention, leading to Malta being listed as the twelfth most secure country in the world.
He urged the newly promoted officers to continue their hard work to achieve more of these classifications whilst being of service.
Commissioner Gafa congratulated all the promoted officers as well, noting how 38% of those promoted were women as the police force continues to strengthen its diversity.
This, he said, reflects how women are playing an increasingly central role within the structures of the MPF. He also highlighted that Malta now ranks as the 7th country in the European Union with the highest proportion of women in policing.
