2 New Depression And Anxiety Medicines Now Available For Free

2 new mental health medicines expected to help over 5,300 patients are being added to the Government Formulary through an investment of approximately €355,000 per year.
Escitalopram, used for depression and anxiety-related issues, and Alprazolam, used for anxiety disorders, will be available free of charge to eligible patients through the Pharmacy of Your Choice (POYC) scheme, improving access to treatment within the community.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister For Health Ian Borg said the new additions are part of the upcoming National Mental Health Strategy, which aims to build on previous measures that widen treatment options and give patients better access to care.
