2.4 Magnitude Earthquake Recorded Off Eastern Gozo Coast At 4am

According to the Seismic Monitoring and Research Group (SMRG) at the University of Malta, a 2.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the eastern coast of Gozo at around 3:53am local time this morning.

The event was first recorded by the Qala seismic station in Comino the SMRG reported the signal was then recorded across the entire Malta Seismic Network and was also recorded by seismic stations south of Sicily.

‘A magnitude 2.4 earthquake is considered a small earthquake, but earthquakes of this size can still be felt locally, particularly when they occur relatively close to the surface and to populated areas.’
