1st Group Of Firefighters Returns From Portugal: 2nd Group Makes Its Way

The first contingent of Civil Protection Malta firefighters arrived safely from Portugal this past weekend as the second group makes its way to aid in ongoing wildfire preparedness and response operations.

The second team of twenty firefighters departed Malta and arrived in Portugal this Sunday, joining the Força Especial de Proteção Civil.

During the first group’s deployment, the firefighters worked alongside their Portuguese counterparts, supporting wildfire response operations and ‘demonstrating Malta’s continued commitment to European cooperation and solidarity.’

‘The deployment forms part of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism’s wildfire pre-positioning programme, coordinated by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO).’
