197 Detainees Currently Held In Centres With Capacity To Hold 1,116

Malta's detention centres currently house 197 detainees, despite having a combined maximum capacity of 1,116, according to information tabled in Parliament.
Home Affairs and Security Minister Glenn Bedingfield provided the figures in response to parliamentary questions submitted by PN MP Adrian Delia.
The minister said the country's detention centres can collectively accommodate up to 1,116 detainees, with 197 places currently occupied.
In a separate parliamentary reply, Bedingfield said that seven officials retired during the past 12 months.
Looking ahead, the minister added that a further seven officials are expected to retire over the next 12 months.
