19-Year-Old Man Arrested In Connection With Dangerous Driving

A 19-year-old resident of Mellieħa is being held in custody after being caught driving dangerously in Pembroke.

The incident occurred at around 10:30 pm (22:30) during police patrols in the Pembroke area linked to Halloween activities. Officers observed a BMW being driven recklessly along Triq Tobruk, where children and teenagers were crossing the road, putting them at serious risk.

Police ordered the driver to stop, but the vehicle continued at high speed through a residential area, driving in the wrong direction on several streets, including one-way roads, where children and parents were present.

The car eventually reached St. George’s Bay, where it was abandoned, and the driver fled on foot. He was arrested shortly afterwards.

The 19-year-old is currently being held at the Floriana police lock-up and is expected to appear in court today at noon.
