19 Irregular Immigrants Arrested In Police Inspections Around Malta

During the night and in the early hours of this morning, 19 irregular migrants were arrested by the Police after being found living in Malta illegally.
During inspections carried out in Ħamrun and Ħal Qormi, the Police arrested ten individuals from Syria, The Gambia, Côte d'Ivoire and Niger.
Further operations in St Paul's Bay led to the arrest of nine individuals from Albania, Syria, Ghana, Bangladesh, The Gambia and Mali.
All those arrested are being held at a detention centre under the responsibility of the Detention Services Agency while the necessary procedures are carried out for their return to their countries of origin.
During these inspections, the Police were assisted by officers from the Detention Services Agency.
