19 Beaches Across Malta Benefit from Improved Facilities

Nineteen beaches across Malta have benefited from extensive works carried out by the Tourism Zones Regeneration Agency, aimed at improving facilities, accessibility, safety, and the overall experience for residents and tourists during the busy summer season.

The improvements were announced during a visit by Minister for Local Government and Public Works Alison Zerafa Civelli, together with Dennis Vella, Chief Executive Officer of the Tourism Zones Regeneration Agency. The Minister said that the Government remains committed to investing in high-quality public spaces, allowing Maltese families and visitors to enjoy safer, more accessible, and better-equipped beaches.

The works included the installation and upgrading of seven lifeguard towers, 910 metres of walkways, 67 waste bins, 14 showers, four changing rooms, ten sea ladders, and four information signs. The interventions were carried out in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority.

Among the beaches benefiting from these improvements are Mellieħa Bay, Golden Bay, Għajn Tuffieħa Bay, Buġibba Perched Beach, Qawra Point, Fond Għadir, St George’s Bay, and Fajtata Bay. Further works were also carried out at Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq, Balluta Bay, St Thomas Bay, Tal-Magħluq, Għar l-Aħmar, Xatt San Ġorġ, Pretty Bay, Wignacourt, and is-Simenta.

The Agency’s teams, together with the Cleaning and Maintenance Division, also carry out regular daily work to keep beaches clean and well maintained.

The Minister encouraged the public to help protect Malta’s beaches by keeping public spaces clean and disposing of waste responsibly, ensuring that these popular coastal areas remain safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.
