18-Year-Old Woman Dies Days After Qormi Traffic Accident

An 18-year-old woman from Paola has died several days after being seriously injured in a traffic accident in Qormi.

The accident occurred on Friday, 21 August 2026, at around 8:15pm on Triq Tal-Bajjada, Qormi.

Police were informed of the accident and immediately went to the scene, where they found that a 20-year-old man from Birkirkara had lost control of a Renault Clio and crashed into a barrier.

An 18-year-old woman from Paola was travelling in the vehicle with him at the time of the accident.

Both individuals received medical assistance at the scene before being taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

Unfortunately, the woman’s condition deteriorated in the days following the accident. She was certified dead late yesterday evening.

Magistrate Dr Joe Mifsud LL.D. was informed of the case and appointed an inquiry.

Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are ongoing.
