Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy from Qormi who was allegedly driving the Maserati involved in a fatal hit-and-run on Sunday in Birkirkara.

The crash happened around 5.20am on Triq Salvu Psaila when the Maserati hit a Kymco motorbike ridden by a 42-year-old Nepalese man who lived nearby.

After that, the car also crashed into three parked vehicles. The driver and two passengers then ran away from the scene.

The motorbike rider was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The teen driver and an 18-year-old passenger, also from Qormi, were caught a few hours later. Police investigations are ongoing.

The 18-year-old girl, who was arrested earlier in connection with the case, was confirmed to have serious injuries.

The police continue to investigate, working alongside the inquiry led by Magistrate Dr Philip Galea Farrugia.
