162 Packets Of Drugs Busted And 3 Arrested During Marsa Drug Bust

Three people were arrested after police allegedly found 162 packets containing a substance suspected to be synthetic drugs during targeted patrols in Marsa.

The operation took place yesterday in areas reportedly known for drug trafficking and use. Police first approached a 25-year-old woman from Marsa in Triq Diċembru 13 after she reportedly aroused suspicion. During the encounter, she allegedly attempted to conceal an item beneath a band wrapped around her leg.

A search reportedly uncovered 21 packets containing a suspected synthetic substance, leading to her arrest.

Police then accompanied the woman to her residence in Triq il-Ġerrejja, where two further individuals were arrested; a 32-year-old woman from Cospicua and a 34-year-old Nigerian man residing in Qrendi.

A further 141 packets of suspected synthetic drugs were allegedly found in the man’s possession, along with several mobile phones and three pills suspected to be ecstasy. Investigations are ongoing.

Glenn Bedingfield, Minister for Home Affairs, took to social media, stating that this operation “sends a clear message.”

“There is no space for compromises when it comes to the fight against synthetic drugs which causes big problems,” he state.

Minister Bedingfield thanked the police for their hard work.
